Gifted and Talented Information(Web Resource) - Meeting the special needs of a special population The Fort Bend Independent School District introduced a comprehensive program to meet the special needs of gifted students in 1990. The FBISD Gifted and Talented Program is charged with identifying academically gifted students and providing for the special needs of these students. Gifted students tend to learn at a remarkably rapid rate, to be extremely sensitive and intense. The characteristics of gifted students create special needs which the GT Program is designed to meet. NASA Opportunity for High School Juniors(Web Resource) - High School Aerospace Scholars NASA Johnson Space Center Help Recruit Students for HAS Please help identify high school juniors you believe will benefit from this program and encourage them to apply by visiting our website. Students must complete online applications by November 13, 2009. If you would like posters and brochures to distribute, please respond to the this email with your name, school name, school address and how many brochures you would like. What is HAS? An interactive, online learning experience where students complete Web-based lessons during the school year and travel to NASA for a six-day summer experience where they work NASA engineers and scientists developing a mission to Mars. Who is Eligible? Texas high school juniors Who pays for HAS? There is no cost for participation and all expenses are included. The State of Texas, along with community organizations, partner with JSC to support HAS.
