The Fort Bend Independent School District was formed on April 18, 1959 by the consolidation of the Missouri City Independent School District and the Sugar Land Independent School District. At that time the facilities consisted of 2 elementary schools, a junior high, a senior high, and two football stadiums. A site was immediately purchased on Dulles Avenue (at that time known as Lester Road) and the construction of the Administration Building and John Foster Dulles High School began. Fort Bend ISD had its first graduating class in 1960. The first class actually graduated from the present Dulles High School in 1962. The class of 1963 was the first graduating class from Dulles High School to spend an entire year at the new facility. Many people consider Dulles High School to be the first high school in Fort Bend, since it was the first one built by the district under this new name. Eventually the administration building was moved to a new building on Lexington Boulevard, where it is now, and the old administration was converted into a teacher center, police office, and maintenance facility. The building that is now Dulles Middle School was at one time the North Annex of Dulles High School in order to accommodate the enormous student population of the time (before the building of Clements High School). Although at one time Dulles High School had over 4,000 students, there are currently approximately 2100 students enrolled in the school, but this number fluctuates yearly. Our school continues to change and in the late 1990's the John Foster Dulles educational complex undergwent some major renovations that involved building a new practice stadium for the high school as well as interior and exterior upgrades. The high school itself received a new science wing with brand new laboratories and a new administrative and math wing. The exteriors of all three schools were revamped to more modern standards, with new bricks and roofing. In 2010 Dulles High School welcomed the first cohort of the new Math and Science Academy. Some of the best and brightest math and science students from all over Fort Bend ISD have joined the academy in recent years and Dulles continues to flourish. Dulles carries on a rich Tradition of Excellence in its academic, athletic, fine arts, and extra-curricular programs. Each year both individuals and teams inspire Pride in "Big Red" by winning district, area, regional, and State Championships. One recent example... the Vikings are the 2012 UIL 5A Academic State Champions for Texas. Dulles is an amazing place to gain a a high quality educational experience, and a place for students to prepare themselves for their future.
