Our Mission Statement

Highlands Elementary provides challenging, educational experiences for all students. Students, staff, parents, and community collaborate so that all students become respectful, responsible, and caring individuals.

All About Highlands

Highlands Elementary opened its doors in the fall of 1986 with approximately 450 students. Over the years, the school's community has grown and for the 2011-2012 school year, the estimated student enrollment is slightly above 600.

Currently, the administrative team consists of Dr. Latecha Bogle, Principal, and Mr. Philip Ranford, Assistant Principal. Both leaders are very excited about the upcoming school year and are spending the summer months putting data-driven, academic plans in place which are intended to benefit all student learners while at the same time, ensuring that Highlands maintains its warm, child-centered atmosphere.

Dr. Bogle, Mr. Ranford and the entire Faculty and Staff at Highlands Elementary School remains committed to meeting the needs of ALL learners, elevating academic achievement and ensuring student success.

Dr. Latecha Bogle, Principal

Melodie Beattie once said, “Goals are gratitude in action. They give us the opportunity to build on what we already have. While achieving goals can be a lengthy process, we can learn to be grateful for each stage in the process of setting and meeting goals.” On a daily basis, the Highlands faculty and staff works tirelessly to achieve the ultimate goal, ‘empowering ALL students to achieve their maximum potential by enabling them to live successful and fulfilling lives.’

Philip Ranford, Assistant Principal

Albert Einstein is quoted as saying "It is the supreme art of the teacher to awaken joy in creative expression and knowledge." It is my belief that is our responsibility here at Highlands to create the environment that awakens the joy of learning in each one of our Scotties!
