About Lantern Lane

Lantern Lane Elementary School was built in 1978 and occupied in January of 1979. Our students, faculty and staff were housed at Blueridge Elementary and were anxiously waiting for Lantern Lane to open its doors.

Mr. B. J. Baines was the first principal of Lantern Lane, followed by Dr. R. Robertson,
Dr. James Reuter, Mr. Bruce Drennan, Ms. Valerie Orum, Ms. Sheila Emery, and
Dr. Yvette Blake, our current principal. One of our original teachers is still here,
Coach Larry Cernoch.

We are a neighborhood school and our school mascot is the Yellow Jacket. Most of our students walk, ride their bikes or their parents drive them to school. School Bus transportation is provided for the Quail Green South and The Woods sub-divisions. School bus transportation is also provided for those students who are zoned to us and live on Cartwright.
