Welcome to English II AD, H, Pre-AP
Prerequisite: English I Students enrolled in English II continue to increase and refine their reading, writing, listening, speaking, viewing and representing communication skills. Students plan, draft, and complete written compositions on a regular basis, including reports and research projects. Students also edit their papers for clarity, engaging language, and the correct use of the conventions and mechanics of written English, producing final, error-free drafts. An emphasis is placed on persuasive forms of writing such as logical arguments, expressions of opinions, and personal forms of writing. Students read extensively in multiple genres from world literature. Students also learn literary forms and terms associated with selections being read. Honors, Pre-AP/GT classes emphasize advanced reading, language study, analytical reasoning skills and expository writing in preparation for the Advanced Placement exams in language and literature, and summer reading is required.
