Sartartia Middle School, located in New Territory, is beginning its tenth year.. Sartartia was the name of the eldest daughter of L.A. Ellis who, along with E.H. Cunningham, owned thousands of acres in this area. The two men partnered in 1875 to create a large scale sugar cane operation which became one of the most successful in the state of Texas. After nine years of partnership, the pair split with Ellis retaining 5300 acres and Cunningham retaining 12,500 acres including the sugar mill. Ellis named his plantation "Sartartia" after his daughter, known for her beauty. About 2000 acres of the original Sartartia Plantation existed where New Territory now does. In the 1920's Benjamin Clayton purchased the piece of property for a dairy plantation and kept the unusual name. Sartartia is pronounced Sa-tar-sha. Enrollment: 6th-8th grades is about 1256 students Founded: 2001 School Colors: Black and Gold Mascot: Jaguar Principal: Ginger Carrabine Associate Principal: Stephanie McElroy Assistant Principal: Carl Peters

Principal-Ginger Carrabine
The principal for Sartartia Middle School is Mrs. Ginger Carrabine. Mrs. Carrabine was born in Beaumont, Texas. She received her Bachelor of Science Degree from Lamar University and later obtained her Master of Education Degree from the University of Houston. She began her career in Education in 1991 at Dulles Elementary in Fort Bend ISD. While at Dulles, Mrs. Carrabine served in many roles. She was a classroom teacher for twelve years, an assistant principal for three years and the principal for three years. In 2009, Mrs. Carrabine became the principal at Walker Station Elementary in FBISD. Working at the Number One elementary school in the Greater Houston Area was an awesome experience and privilege! In October, 2011, she was named the principal of Sartartia Middle School. The transition was very smooth because Walker Station Elementary was a feeder school for Sartartia and Mrs. Carrabine already knew many students and parents. She was very happy to have the opportunity to remain in the New Territory and Telfair community because she knows that the family support for the students is tremendous! Mrs. Carrabine is married to Mike Carrabine. They have three wonderful children and are very active in the community. Her oldest, Andy, is a student at Texas Tech University. Her middle child, Zach, is a senior at Dulles High School and her youngest, Kathryn, is in the 8th grade at Dulles Middle School. She spends as much time as she can supporting her children in their schools and extracurricular activities, therefore; when not at Sartartia, you will most likely find her in a gym or on a field as she is cheering on her family who are all involved in competitive athletic activities. Mrs. Carrabine is thrilled to be a part of the Sartartia learning community! She credits the success at Sartartia to the dedicated staff, the motivated students and the supportive parents. To achieve excellence in education, it takes a partnership. She welcomes parents to be active partners in their child’s education. You will see Mrs. Carrabine interacting with students and the parent community as she believes that building relationships with the school community is paramount for success. Mrs. Carrabine has embraced the middle school environment and is cheering on the Jaguars as they excel in the classroom as well as the many extra -curricular activities that are offered at one of the most outstanding middle schools! Exemplary Education Everyday- E3 is the Sartartia Jaguar Way!
